The essays summon the feeling of a conversation you might have with a friend that starts out - "Hey, have you ever wondered why...." Musing about various prosaic aspects of daily life, I flit from subject to subject like someone browsing aimlessly through a curiosity shop, picking up a trivial but interesting question, turning it over and examining it from some droll and unusual angle, putting it down and moving on to the next amusing item.
