Alisa Singer's humorous essays have been published in dozens of print and online newspapers and magazines in the US and Canada - from small, regional publications to national and international newspapers and magazines. The essays, though written from the perspective of a baby boomer woman, cover a broad and unpredictable (okay random) selection of topics and as a result appeal to a varied community of interests and diverse demographics, including, women, men, mothers, business people, seniors and small mammals. She is also the author of the books: I Still Wanna Be A...; My Baby Boomer Memory Album - The Next Half-Century; The Baby Boomer Activity Book - The Way We Were; and The Baby Boomer Activity Book 2- The Way We Are. (See Books.)
Her paintings, which blend humor with contemporary style, have been featured in galleries across the US, including Chicago, New York and Washington D.C., as well as a one-woman show at the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art, where she displayed a satirical series of paintings based on The New York Times wedding announcements. As in her writing, her "Around the House" series of paintings finds interest in everyday objects, featuring everything from dish towels, mops and rubber gloves, to office chairs and Fed Ex packages. In addition to being a practicing corporate lawyer, her lens is colored by her experiences as a wife, daughter, mother of a 15 year-old daughter and a 25 year-old son, step-mother, biological step-mother, and various other roles.
And she still wants to be a cheerleader, a beauty queen , an astronaut, a brain surgeon, serene, too rich and too thin, a super hero, and president, among other things.
